Communication Systems

Telephony

The Communication System includes telephony products as well as solutions for room-to-room communication throughout the home.

The communications system in a luxury home is much more than just a way to answer phone calls. In larger homes, otherwise simple activities such as seeing who’s at the front door, telling a child they have a friend over, or simply letting the family know dinner’s ready can be a logistical challenge. A well-designed home communication system addresses all of these scenarios and more. When guests arrive at your home, they’ll push a simple call button on attractive door/gate stations, and phones throughout the home will ring with a unique cadence to differentiate from regular phone calls. Pick up the phone to talk to the guest and press a button to open the door or gate to let them in. The phone system also doubles as a convenient way to quickly talk to family and guests throughout the home and outdoor living spaces. Call any other room in the house with the push of a button or press Page All to message everyone in the home. Additionally, phone systems offer many useful features such as multiple phone lines, private lines available only in certain rooms, programmable ring/silent scheduling, and multi-mailbox voicemail. New advances expand all of the functionality above to work through tablets and other mobile devices too. See and talk to a visitor at the front gate using your iPhone, then press Open Gate on the screen to let them in. Walk to the iPad mounted on the wall in the kitchen and press a button to talk to kids in their bedroom to make sure they’re getting ready for school. Even take a call from outside the home on an iPod Touch in a waterproof case while sitting next to the pool.

Networks

Networks

A Wired and Wireless Network enables reliable communication between electronic devices in the home, access to the internet, and wireless operation of the home’s control system.

Much more than just a connection to the Internet, a wired and wireless network is the critically important digital foundation used by a modern home’s control and entertainment systems. It provides the communications pathway, indoors and out, that enables the dozens or hundreds of technology devices to seamlessly and reliably work together day after day for years on end. AUDIOVISIONS uses Business Class and Enterprise Class network solutions which are designed to work in critical environments where network downtime and spotty performance are not acceptable. Additionally, these products are designed to provide significantly improved coverage area, greater speed, and centralized connection management of portable devices as they move throughout the home. A robust network enables smooth, high- quality streaming of movies and other videos from services like Netflix and Hulu, and popular online music offerings such as Pandora, SiriusXM, and Spotify. And when you’re away, a properly designed and configured network can provide the ability to monitor surveillance cameras, arm/disarm the security system, or heat up the pool or spa in advance of returning home.

Structured Wiring

Structured Wiring

Structured Wiring is the communications infrastructure within the home, providing a pathway for data, phone, and TV signals.

Structured wiring is the phone, data, and coax cabling essential to providing telephone, Internet, and cable/satellite services to the desired locations within the home. A structured wiring panel is a box with organized connection modules for each of these services. Cables are labeled to identify their destination points for easy troubleshooting. Power is provided in the panel for routers, switches, and amplifiers. Structured wiring extends to wall- mounted plates throughout the home that contain various combinations of phone, data and cable/satellite feeds. Cable and satellite amplifiers boost the incoming signal to prevent degradation at the end points where your cable or satellite boxes are connected. Structured wiring typically includes RG6 coax cable for satellite and cable company feeds and CAT6 data cable for phone and Ethernet feeds. It may include fiber optic cable in some situations. Other technologies such as HDMI distribution can use the structured wiring as a pathway for content, Ethernet, and control signals. A high quality structured wiring system is critical to support the current and future technologies that you desire for your home.
