Structured Wiring

Structured Wiring is the communications infrastructure within the home, providing a pathway for data, phone, and TV signals.

Structured wiring is the phone, data, and coax cabling essential to providing telephone, Internet, and cable/satellite services to the desired locations within the home. A structured wiring panel is a box with organized connection modules for each of these services. Cables are labeled to identify their destination points for easy troubleshooting. Power is provided in the panel for routers, switches, and amplifiers. Structured wiring extends to wall- mounted plates throughout the home that contain various combinations of phone, data and cable/satellite feeds. Cable and satellite amplifiers boost the incoming signal to prevent degradation at the end points where your cable or satellite boxes are connected. Structured wiring typically includes RG6 coax cable for satellite and cable company feeds and CAT6 data cable for phone and Ethernet feeds. It may include fiber optic cable in some situations. Other technologies such as HDMI distribution can use the structured wiring as a pathway for content, Ethernet, and control signals.
